This archive uses an expanded list of archive warnings for sensitive material. Many of these warnings are not present on AO3 or its forks. They are color-coded to grab your attention and help you avoid clicking on things you don't want to read (or helping you find things you do want... no judgement here!). Below is an outline of what you can expect to see from works tagged with different warnings.
None of the warnings outlined below apply to the work. This tag is a promise that you won't get jumpscared by anything that would be warned for.
Any of the warnings shown below could apply to the work. If you have specific tags you won't touch with a ten-foot pole, you should treat all works tagged as CCNTW as if they are tagged with what you're trying to avoid.
This tag may appear on in-progress works where I'm not entirely sure of the direction the story is going, but will be more common in original fiction to prevent spoilers.
The work contains sexual activity in which one or more characters are not consenting; Rape. Includes scenarios where the activity was consensual to start, but became nonconsensual due to one or more characters revoking consent and not having this request respected.
Even though such things are inarguably rape in real life, in terms of fiction this tag is not applied to works that are better represented by the "Dubious Consent", "Underage Sex", or "Bestiality" tags, as doing so would make the tag too unspecific to filter out relevant content.
A strictly fictional concept. Covers a wide range of scenarios, including but not limited to somnophilia, sex involving characters who are intoxicated, too senile to consent, or are unable to state one way or the other (or simply haven't done so) but don't fit under another tag. If you see this warning, read all other additional tags carefully.
"Rape/Non-con" and "Dubious Consent" tags should typically not overlap on a single work, unless the tags are referring to separate events within the same work.
The work contains sexual activity that involves one or more characters under the age of 18. For consistency, this is applied overbroad. A work that depicts sexual activity between a 17-year-old and 18-year-old character may still be tagged as "Underage Sex", though CCNTW may also be common in this case. If there is another aspect relating to age-based power dynamics, such as a large age gap, these will be specified in the additional tags.
A somewhat subjective tag. In general, I'll tag something as this if it includes detailed descriptions of severe bodily injury; gore.
For works that depict the death of a main and/or plot-significant character from the source material. This tag will only be used for fanfiction and non-canon short stories based on my original work. Fully original works that are canon to the story they contribute to will not be given this tag to avoid spoilers.
The work contains any amount of incestuous activity. This tag will be included in cases of activity between step-siblings and adoptive family. The Incest warning tag's purpose is to grab your attention. The specific type of incest will be clarified in the additional tags.
The work involves a living person or entity engaging in sex acts with a physical nonliving (who was once-living) body. Mostly intended for non-mobile deceased corpses, but may be applied to cases involving reanimated zombies if they aren't within a certain treshold of sapience. Does not include sexual activity with vampires, ghosts, or other sapient undead. Unless they're getting silly with a corpse, of course.
The work contains sexual activity between a human or sapient humanlike character and an animal. Includes animallike shapeshifters.
The work contains sexual activity involving one or more "anthro furry" animal characters.
The work contains sexual activity involving one or more "feral furry" animal characters. Generally involves mutual sapience.
